History
When I first started Shock.p3 it was the year 2000. The names comes from an old website called shockrock.net. I built the media player for a girl named Stacey, who was going to host me and Shock.p3 was going to be the payment. Since then, Shock has become a very time consuming hobby for me. It’s gone through a lot of changes over the years. I’ve always tried to keep the basic concept of the program the same. Professional, Ease of use and always state of the art features never seen before. I believe this is why it’s so popular. It’s like one day, I send it out to maybe 5 people, next thing I know just about everyone on AOL is using it. It’s been like this for awhile now. While I will admit there is some competetion out there. They have more options than Shock, but it’s ease of use and professional quality of coding are not a part of their program.
Although, not many people know about Shock 2, it was more of a “What could I add to the new Shock, that no one has ever seen before in a program like it?”. It featured Global Hotkeys, Skin support, Last.fm (AudioScrobbler) Plug-In, Shock Prompt, RSS Feeds for Last 10 played, RSS Media Controls, Google like Search Page, AOL 4.0-9.0 Support, Room Owner tools, and much, much more.
While not all of these options are included in Shock 3, much are. There are quite a few options that were not included in Shock 2 that are in Shock 3, for instance: multipleAOL Support (without user interaction), Fade support, File Associations, Profanity Filter, Internet Radio support (http://shoutcast.com), ScreenName Caser, AOL Themes and also I can’t forget about the Lyrix Plug-In for looking up lyrics to your favorite songs.
Shock 3 will be developed for a long time from now. I am always finding new ways to do certain things or adding features no one has ever seen. I do develop Shock in my spare time, I do however have a full time job and a girlfriend, so it is hard to find time to code on my baby.
I hope you will enjoy using Shock 3, remember, if you don’t like something, email me, I’ll be glad to help or change something for you. This program is for the people, not just me. If you’re unhappy, I’m unhappy.
Thank you for reading,
