General

« Why does a song says it’s 30:00 when it’s only 2:00?

Songs reporting bad times are encoded using VBR. These particular files duration cannot be determined without loading the full file.

This of course would be very processor intensive if we were to load each song fully while grabbing playlist details.

If you have the option Accurate Song Lengths then it will update to the correct time when it is played.

In order to turn this option on to have accurate length reporting. Complete the following:

1. Go to Menu and click Preferences.

2. Click Sound

3. Check Accurate Song Lengths

« Why are files removing themselves?

The files are coming up missing because you have an option turned on called Remove files without tag info.

In order to turn this option off you need to do the following:

1. Go to Menu and click Preferences.

2. Click Playlist

3. Uncheck Remove files without tag info

« What’s ‘Use system volume’ for?

Shock can either control your volume at an application level or at a system level.

In order to turn this option on you need to do the following:

1. Go to Menu and click Preferences.

2. Click Sound

3. Check Use System Volume

« What if I don’t want to use Tag Information?

If you do not want to use Tag Information for the playlist title’s then the filename will be used instead.

In order to turn this option on you need to do the following:

1. Go to Menu and click Preferences.

2. Click Playlist

3. Check Use Tag Information

« What playlist load action should I use?

There are two load actions for you to choose from:

  • #1. M3U from last session
  • #2. Refresh sources

#1. This action saves your playlist everytime you exit and reloads it on startup.

I recommend this for people who do not add new files often.

#2. This action grabs a new list media from your sources on startup.

I recommend this for people who download songs often.

This could be due to several reasons:

  • Uninstalled a version of AOL recently

The only way you can fix this is by installing AOL again.

The following commands will change the Front style’s ascii (a1), font (f1) and color (c1).

Remarks:

These are three seperate commands. Meaning you will have to do 1 at a time.

To change the Back style you would repeat the example above, replacing ‘1′ for ‘2′. So a1 becomes a2.

« How do I create a custom chatsend?

To create a style can be easy and it can get complex. The best thing to do is to open the Legend. You can do this by clicking View Legend on the Custom Editor dialog.

Below I’m going to show you a few common examples.

[a1][x][artist][/x] - [x][title][/x][a2]

What’s is [a1], [x][/x], [artist] & [title] and [a2]?

[a1] - Outputs the Front style.

[x][/x] - Special stylizes the text between the tags.

[artist] + [title] - Displays the current song’s Artist and Title.

- This is from either the id3 tag or file name. You can use [fartist] and [ftitle] for Filename based tags.

[a2] - Outputs the Back style.

Now lets try something a bit more complex:

[a1][x][action][/x][g]; [artist] [x]-[/x] [title] ([x][len][/x], [x][played]x[/x])

What’s is [a1], [x][/x], [artist] & [title], [a2], [g], [action], [played] and [len]?

[a1] - Outputs the Front style.

[x][/x] - Special stylizes the text between the tags.

[action] - Outputs the current action, for example random, shuffle, repeat.

[artist] + [title] - Displays the current song’s Artist and Title.

- This is from either the id3 tag or file name. You can use [fartist] and [ftitle] for Filename based tags.

[len] - Displays the current song’s duration.

[played] - Displays how many times the song has been played.

[a2] - Outputs the Back style.
